2002 — Mortuary equipment manufacturing begins
In 2002, the same year it became a joint stock company, Medica-Lab began manufacturing mortuary equipment and refrigeration systems — the origin of what is today the Preservus brand.
Mortuary refrigeration is a specialized category: stainless steel construction, precise temperature control, and configurations ranging from single-cell units for smaller facilities to multi-cell systems for larger hospitals and mortuary institutes. Building this capability in-house, rather than importing it, meant the group could serve a category most hospital-furniture manufacturers do not cover at all.
More than two decades later, Preservus mortuary refrigeration is in service across dozens of hospitals in the region, still manufactured at the same group of factories that build the company's hospital bed range.
