About this line
A mortuary freezer is a stainless steel body storage cabinet that runs below freezing, at −10 to −20 °C, for long-term cases. Preservus, the mortuary equipment line of Medica-Lab Group, supplies each of its six configurations, from one cell to nine, as a freezer: AISI 304 stainless steel inside and out, with a preservation set point of −20 °C ±1.5 °C.
It is the long-term counterpart of the mortuary refrigerator, which holds +2 to +8 °C for routine short-term preservation. The two versions share the same external dimensions and the same options.
Preservus started in 2002 in the group's Egyptian factories. Units are manufactured today in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, and at the group's Badr City factory for the Egyptian market, then delivered, installed and commissioned by our own teams.
Mortuary freezer or mortuary refrigerator: long-term preservation at −10 to −20 °C
The mortuary refrigerator runs at +2 to +8 °C, with a set point of +3.5 °C ±1.5 °C, for routine short-term preservation. The mortuary freezer runs at −10 to −20 °C, with a set point of −20 °C ±1.5 °C, for long-term cases: unidentified remains, cases awaiting forensic examination, or extended repatriation.
Every Preservus configuration is available in either version, with the same dimensions and the same options. State the version with the cell count when you ask for a quotation; we confirm the configuration before manufacturing.
Mortuary freezer sizes: 1 to 9 cells, and the power each one needs
One cell (MLM-01E): 2250 × 1000 × 1350 mm, 0.50 HP. Two cells (MLM-01): 2200 × 1000 × 2050 mm, 0.75 HP. Three cells (MLM-02): 2200 × 1000 × 2400 mm, 1 HP. One- to three-cell units are 1000 mm wide and taller with each cell.
Four cells in a 2×2 layout (MLM-03): 2200 × 1900 × 2050 mm, 1.5 HP. Six cells in 2×3 (MLM-04): 2200 × 1900 × 2400 mm, 2 HP. Nine cells in a modular 3×3 layout (MLM-05): 2800 × 2200 × 2400 mm, 2.75 HP. Power is the recommended rating for each size. There is no separate freezer model code: each freezer is the freezer configuration of the model named here.
Construction and options
Cabinets are AISI 304 stainless steel inside and out, insulated at a density of 40 kg/m³. Each cell measures 550 × 700 mm internally and can be customised, as can the doors, and holds a stainless steel body tray with two handles.
Options include multiple refrigeration units, a UPS alarm, a deodoriser, universal door locking and a backup cooling system that switches on automatically if a failure occurs. A freezer holds long-term cases, so it is worth naming these protections when you ask for a quotation.
Site requirements and installation
Units are rated for a working (ambient) temperature of 32 °C and a 50–60 Hz supply; a 3-phase 380 V / 50 Hz supply is available as an option. The room needs the unit's footprint, clearance in front of the doors to draw the trays fully, and an access route wide enough for the cabinet. The final electrical supply depends on the cooling units and options chosen; we confirm it in writing with the quotation.
Units are delivered, positioned, connected and temperature-tested on site, and handed over with a written commissioning record. Our own teams cover Saudi Arabia and Egypt directly; in export markets we work with the appointed local partner.

The price of a mortuary freezer depends on the number of cells, the options selected (multiple refrigeration units, UPS alarm, backup cooling, deodoriser, door locking), any custom cell or door dimensions, the quantity ordered, the delivery city, the warranty and service terms, and on-site installation and commissioning. When does a facility need a mortuary freezer rather than a refrigerator?
The refrigerator covers routine short-term preservation. The freezer is for long-term cases: unidentified remains, cases awaiting forensic examination, or extended repatriation. How long a body is kept is decided by the facility and the competent authorities, not by the equipment.
