FAQ

What is a mortuary refrigerator?

A mortuary refrigerator is a refrigerated stainless steel cabinet, divided into cells, that keeps the deceased at a controlled temperature. The MLM-03 is the four-cell version arranged 2×2, built in 304 stainless steel for hospitals that need more capacity than a three-cell unit.

What temperature is a mortuary fridge?

The MLM-03 holds +2 to +8°C for standard chilling. It can also be supplied as a freezer at −10 to −20°C for cases needing longer-term storage, in the same 2200 × 1900 × 2050 mm stainless steel cabinet. Optional extras include multiple cooling units, a UPS alarm, a deodoriser and emergency cooling.

How many bodies does the MLM-03 hold?

The MLM-03 holds four bodies, one per cell, arranged 2×2 inside a single cabinet. This layout gives a lower, wider cabinet than a single row of four, which suits rooms with a lower ceiling. Delivery includes on-site installation, connection and temperature testing. The standard load per cell or tray is 200 kg, with a bariatric option available for heavier cases.

What power supply does the MLM-03 need, and what ambient temperature is it rated for?

The MLM-03 runs on a 1.5 HP cooling unit on a 50–60 Hz power supply, with 3-phase 380 V / 50 Hz available as an option, and is rated for a working ambient temperature of 32 °C. It is delivered, connected and temperature-tested on site with a written commissioning record.

What happens to the bodies inside the MLM-03 if the power goes out?

Standard Preservus units restart automatically once power returns. For sites where power cuts are frequent, the MLM-03 can be ordered with a UPS-backed alarm that keeps the temperature alarm live during an outage, an emergency cooling option, and multiple independent cooling units so a single compressor failure does not compromise the whole cabinet.

How much does a mortuary fridge cost?

Price depends on the number of cells, the 2×2 arrangement, whether a freezer configuration is chosen, added options such as a UPS alarm, the delivery city and the warranty and installation terms. Share these details with Medica-Lab for a written quotation covering the MLM-03.
