FAQ
What is a mortuary cooler?
A mortuary cooler, or mortuary refrigerator, is a refrigerated stainless steel cabinet built from separate cells. The MLM-05 is the largest Preservus unit, a modular 3×3, nine-cell cabinet in 304 stainless steel for major hospitals and forensic facilities. Units for Saudi customers are made in Madinah, where our quality management system is certified to ISO 13485:2016.
What temperature is a mortuary fridge?
The MLM-05 holds +2 to +8°C for standard chilling. It can also be supplied as a freezer at −10 to −20°C for cases needing longer-term storage, in the same 2800 × 2200 × 2400 mm modular cabinet. Optional extras include multiple cooling units, a UPS alarm, a deodoriser and emergency cooling.
How many bodies does the MLM-05 hold?
The MLM-05 holds nine bodies, one per cell, in a modular 3×3 arrangement. It is the highest-capacity refrigerator in the Preservus range, sized for major hospitals and forensic facilities with continuous throughput. Delivery includes on-site installation, connection and temperature testing. The standard load per cell or tray is 200 kg, with a bariatric option available for heavier cases.
What power supply does the MLM-05 need, and what ambient temperature is it rated for?
The MLM-05 runs on a 2.75 HP cooling unit on a 50–60 Hz power supply, with 3-phase 380 V / 50 Hz available as an option, and is rated for a working ambient temperature of 32 °C. It is delivered, connected and temperature-tested on site with a written commissioning record.
What happens to the bodies inside the MLM-05 if the power goes out?
Standard Preservus units restart automatically once power returns. For sites where power cuts are frequent, the MLM-05 can be ordered with a UPS-backed alarm that keeps the temperature alarm live during an outage, an emergency cooling option, and multiple independent cooling units so a single compressor failure does not compromise the whole cabinet.
How much does a mortuary fridge cost?
Price depends on the number of cells, the modular 3×3 arrangement, whether a freezer configuration is chosen, added options such as multiple cooling units or a UPS alarm, the delivery city and the warranty terms. Share these details with Medica-Lab for a written quotation covering the MLM-05.
What warranty and lead time apply to this refrigerator?
It carries a 5-year warranty, and standard configurations ship within 6 to 10 weeks of a confirmed order. After-sales support is handled by our own local engineers in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, with a 48-hour response time and spare parts held for at least 10 years after the model is discontinued.
